The Art of a Flower and Ice

There is a magic to creating images when bringing together flowers and ice. Although the process can be difficult at times what I love is the serendipitous aspect to the creative ending. I can plan the colours, the arrangement, and the story, yet the ice has a say on how it is all going to end. It is a joyful process to see how the flowers react to the hold ice has on the plant world. The bubbles, the movement and the luminosity of the ice all play an unknown part in the creation.

The spirit of flowers has over the years been an important symbol in our society. So often they are associated with the aspects of life we encounter. Such as beauty, growth, giving, vibrancy, and love. Then add to this, the is the symbolism of each type of flower. For example, the daffodils are a symbol for rebirth and lavender for calmness and meditation. When we add this to the contrasting meaning of the cold and clean ice the balance and beauty is not only visual but emblematic.
